SLOW FASHION - FUTURISTIC YET BEAUTIFUL

Undoubtedly fashion is one of the most profitable and fast-paced industries. The credit goes to consumers inclined towards fast fashion that supports mass production, frequent consumption, and a short lifespan of expensive clothes. Consumers buy seasonal trends that get dumped in just a few months.

A shift in the trend is clearly the need of the hour and the cherry on the cake will be when all fashion houses, irrespective of whether they are big or small, will start imbibing the mindful approach in their work culture.

Shibui has also joined hands in this revolutionary movement! To weave a minimalist yet modern story by keeping in mind our planet earth, the provider of all! Shibui is designing and fabricating, minimal yet confident apparel to bring awareness about ethical clothing.

Always rooting for sustainability, our focus is on eco-friendly dyes and fabric. Naturally, as it's eco-friendly, it is a slow process, but we know that it is way more beneficial both on the personal and environmental front. Our Kaarigars are working in a safe and healthy working environment devoid of any loud machines. Not just that, with sustainability, comes an added advantage of fair pay for Kaarigars, which is a matter of even more pride for Shibui.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the Ellen MacArthur Foundation have published a report. According to it, the fashion industry is the second-largest consumer of water and is responsible for generating 20% of the world’s wastewater. Not just that, the process leads to 8-10% of global carbon emissions. And if it continues, the industry’s greenhouse gas emissions will exceed 50% by 2030.

This figure is alarming!!

When we look at these statistics, they further deepen our conviction to restore simplicity, balance, and sustainability in the world of fashion. Not just that, it is our collective responsibility to add value and save the planet that is giving us life.

When it comes to consumers, you can make this conscious choice as well. Not as tough as it seems, with mindfulness:

  • Go for brands that focus on sustainability.
  • Consider your buying needs. Buy only what you need and not everything that seems appealing.
  • Choose quality over quantity.
  • Buy durable products.
  • Repair instead of throwing.
  • Donate what you no longer use or fit into instead of disposing of.

Team Shibui has chosen to be part of getting our planet on track. "We are zipping and buttoning our way through timeless beauty that is crafted thoughtfully."
